What: A Panel Discussion About Bill Reid’s “The Spirit of Haida Gwaii”

When: February 25, 1 – 3 pm

Where: Bill Reid Gallery

The panel discussion is free with gallery admission. You still have to pay to get in, but at only $11 for an adult it’s well worth it. While you’re there you can see Bill Reid: Creative Journeys and  Judy Chartrand: What a Wonderful World.

What: Creative Mornings Featuring Julia Taffe

When: March 3, 8:30 am

Where: SFU Woodward’s — Goldcorp Centre for the Arts

This is free but put your bid in for the Creative Mornings lottery system. If you don’t get picked out of the hat, simply show up at 8:30 in the morning and the empty seats are first come, first served.

What: International Women’s Day Fundraiser and She-I-La Exhibit

When: March 8 – 18 is online bidding and the art opening is on March 8, 6pm – 9pm

Where: Fazakas Gallery 

Attending the art opening on March 8 is free, but if you want to support the Canadian Women’s Foundation and have a little extra cash,  put in a bid or two online.

What: Art Opening – David Dumbrell, Mechanical Curiosities

When: February 24, 5:30 – 8pm

Where: Visual Space Gallery

Check out David’s automatons for free at the opening. This is definitely something kids will enjoy!

What: TILT Life Drawing Sessions

When: March 1, 7 – 9pm – or the first Wednesday of every month.

Where: HCMA’s Vancouver studio

Fancy yourself an up-and-coming artist? Or do you just want to escape from your husband and kids? Go to a life drawing session. It’s free but register in advance to reserve a space.

What: Group Show – It Is What It Is

When: February 25, 9pm – 12am

Where: El Cartel

An art show in a clothing shop? I have to see this! There is no entrance fee but I bet the drinks cost something, and everyone knows you dance better to the DJ music with a couple of drinks under your belt.
